Context

The mining group ran an aging, over-provisioned on-premise infrastructure, with rising maintenance costs and an inability to absorb load spikes from its exploration campaigns.

Solution

Novenvera designed a hybrid AWS architecture, with infrastructure described in Terraform and CloudFormation to guarantee reproducibility and traceability.

The migration ran in successive waves — test environments first, non-critical workloads next, critical systems last — each validated before moving to the next, without business interruption.

A FinOps practice was built in from the design phase: continuous right-sizing, reserved instances for stable workloads, auto-scaling for variable ones.

Results

Operating costs dropped by 40%, with now-elastic capacity that easily absorbs load spikes from exploration campaigns.
